Our story

Walking people back into the forest

SilverPineway began as a handful of guides who believed the pine woods around Tokyo were the city's most underused medicine. Today we lead calm, measured walks for anyone who needs the trees.

Why pine air matters to us

The scent of a pine stand is not decoration. The resins the trees release into the air change how a walk feels in the chest and in the shoulders. We built our entire programme around slow exposure to that air, measured not in distance covered but in minutes spent breathing it. Every route we run has been chosen for how dense the canopy is, how clean the ground water runs, and how far the nearest road sits from the path.

How a SilverPineway walk is shaped

A walk is never a march. We open on flat ground to let the body settle, then step gradually onto the forest floor where the needles soften every footfall. A guide sets the pace to the slowest person present, not the fastest. There are planned stops for stillness, for a hot drink, and for the simple act of looking up. Nobody is asked to push, and nobody is left behind.

The guides who lead the way

Our guides are trained in both wilderness first aid and in the quieter craft of reading a group's energy. Some came to us from mountain rescue, some from physiotherapy, some simply from a lifetime of walking these woods. What they share is patience. They know when to talk about the trees and when to let the forest do the talking. Every guide carries a radio, water, and the knowledge of three ways off every trail we run.

Caring for the ground we walk

We walk on paths that hundreds of feet will cross after us, so we keep our groups small and our footprint smaller. We stay on marked routes, carry out everything we carry in, and work with the local forestry office to rest trails that show wear. A forest that is loved to exhaustion helps no one. Our promise to the woodland is the same as our promise to the people who walk it: leave it better rested than you found it.

Walks for every pace and age

A morning stretch for office workers, a gentle loop for recovering patients, a longer trek for those who want their legs tired by noon — each is a different session with a different rhythm. We also run quiet walks designed for grief, for burnout, and for the simple need to say nothing out loud for an hour. If you are unsure which session fits you, our team will talk it through before you ever lace a boot.

Finding us from the city

Our base sits a short ride from central Tokyo, and most of our trailheads are reachable by public transport within the hour. We meet walkers at a fixed point, hand out what they need, and travel to the woods together so no one gets lost on the way. Our office is open through the week for questions, bookings, and the occasional cup of tea with people curious about what a forest walk actually involves.
